Police in the Albertine region have arrested two prime suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 38-year-old woman during a violent night attack in Kakumiro District.
The suspects have been identified as Jordan Kibuka, 25, and Semata, also known as Kidewalime, 23, who are believed to have participated in the fatal assault on Namulindwa Victoria, a resident of Rwensera B Cell in Kakumiro District.
According to police, the incident occurred on the night of February 27, 2026, when the two suspects allegedly stormed Namulindwa’s home armed with heavy sticks.
The attackers reportedly beat the woman and other occupants of the home during what investigators believe was a planned robbery attempt.
During the violent attack, three of Namulindwa’s children and their maid were also seriously injured after being struck by the assailants.
All the victims were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
However, Namulindwa later succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the assault.
Police said the other victims remain admitted to the hospital but are currently in stable condition and expected to recover.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects had been targeting homes in Kakumiro District, using heavy sticks as their weapon of choice while carrying out robbery attacks.
Security officials believe the attack on Namulindwa’s home may have been premeditated, and investigators are now examining whether the suspects could be linked to other similar criminal incidents reported in the district in recent months.
Police in the Albertine region confirmed that the two suspects are currently in custody and will face charges related to murder, aggravated robbery, and causing grievous bodily harm once investigations are completed.
Authorities have since assured residents that security agencies are working to dismantle criminal networks operating in the area.
Police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious individuals or activities.
“Community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime. We urge residents to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” a police official said.
Security agencies emphasized that ensuring the safety and security of communities remains a top priority, adding that all individuals responsible for the attack will be brought to justice as investigations continue.
