MUBENDE — Police, working with military intelligence, have arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction and killing of a four-year-old boy in Nalutete Village, Mubende District.
The victim, Kazungu Daniel, was reportedly kidnapped from his home after his family failed to raise the full ransom of Shs6 million demanded by the suspects.
According to authorities, the child was killed and his body allegedly disposed of in a pit latrine before the family delivered a partial ransom payment of Shs1 million.
The suspect, Emmanuel Muwanguzi, is currently in police custody and is reported to have confessed to involvement in the crime.
Police said the boy’s body was taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing as security agencies work to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have participated in the crime.
Law enforcement officials have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to authorities in order to help prevent similar incidents.
