Nathan Okori, the father of former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah, has died on the same calendar date his son passed away, marking a deeply emotional moment for the family and the nation.
Okori died on Friday, March 20, 2026, exactly four years after Oulanyah succumbed to illness on March 20, 2022 in Seattle, where he had been receiving specialized medical treatment.
According to family sources, Okori had been unwell for some time, battling respiratory complications. He had reportedly been under medical supervision before his condition worsened in recent days, leading to his death earlier today.
The coincidence of both father and son dying on the same date has sparked widespread reaction across Uganda, with many describing it as symbolic and heartbreaking.
Leaders and citizens alike have taken to social platforms to express condolences, while others reflected on the rare nature of such an occurrence.
