Absa Unveils Route Map for 2026 KH3-7 Hills Run

Absa Bank Uganda has unveiled the official route map for the 2026 Absa KH3–7 Hills Run, setting the stage for one of Kampala’s most anticipated endurance events scheduled for April 26.

The annual run will start and end at Millennium Grounds in Lugogo, with participants competing across three race categories—5km, 10km and the flagship 25km—each designed to traverse the capital’s hilly and urban terrain.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director David Wandera said this year’s edition will not only test endurance but also offer enhanced rewards for top performers.

“This year we have three routes, which are the 5km, 10km and 25km. We have also raised the competitive stakes for this year’s edition. The top two male and top two female finishers who complete all seven hills will earn slots to participate in the Absa Black Stars Marathon in Accra, Ghana,” Wandera said.

He added that the overall top male and female runners will each receive a land title, courtesy of Bakayima, describing the 2026 edition as “the most rewarding yet.”

The 5km and 10km races will wind through Naguru and Ntinda suburbs, while the 25km race will stretch across multiple divisions of Kampala, covering key areas including Kololo, Nakasero, Old Kampala, Mengo and Nsambya, among others.

Organisers said the routes have been carefully designed to challenge runners while showcasing some of the city’s most iconic landscapes. Water points will be strategically placed along all routes to support participants.

Beyond competition, the run continues to serve a social cause. Funds raised from the event will support organisations focused on improving access to education for vulnerable girls.

Beneficiaries include the DREAMS Programme by Baylor College of Medicine, Amref Health Africa, Windle International Uganda, World Vision Uganda, Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project, Katalemwa Cheshire Home and Smart Girls Uganda.

Organisers emphasised that proceeds from the run will directly contribute to keeping girls in school and addressing barriers to their education.

Registration for the run is already open, with participation kits priced at Shs35,000 for the ordinary kit, Shs45,000 for the timed kit and Shs150,000 for the VIP package.

The KH3-7 Hills Run has in recent years grown into a major fixture on Uganda’s sporting calendar, attracting both elite and recreational runners while blending fitness with philanthropy.
