Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have announced the return of Uganda Cranes midfielder Farouk Miya ahead of the 2026/27 season, marking the homecoming of one of the club’s most celebrated former players.
In a statement released on Monday, the Kitende-based club described Miya’s return as the comeback of a player whose legacy remains deeply embedded in the club’s history.
“We are pleased to announce the return of Farouk Miya to the club ahead of the 2026/27 season, bringing back a player whose name remains etched among the greatest ever to wear the famous Red and Black,” the club said.
Miya rejoins Vipers after years of professional football abroad, where he featured for clubs in Europe and the Middle East following his breakthrough performances with the Venoms. His return is expected to strengthen Vipers’ squad as the club prepares to defend domestic honours and compete in continental competitions during the new campaign.
The experienced midfielder has long been regarded as one of Uganda’s finest footballers, having captained the Uganda Cranes and played a key role in the national team’s qualification for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, ending a 39-year wait for the tournament.
Vipers are expected to unveil Miya officially in the coming days as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather momentum.
