KAMPALA — Patricia Rose Turindamukama has appeared before the City Hall Court in Kampala to face a murder charge over the death of her roommate and friend, TikTok content creator Jovia Namuwulya.
Ms Turindamukama was brought before court following her arrest in connection with the death of Namuwulya, 22, whose body was discovered in a rented room in Bukoto, a Kampala suburb.
Prosecution alleges that Namuwulya was killed between midnight and 6am on August 20, 2026, although details surrounding the circumstances of her death remain the subject of police investigations.
Turindamukama, who lived with Namuwulya, was arrested on August 24, four days after the incident, and subsequently presented before court.
The case is being investigated by detectives from Kira Road Police Station, who have been working to establish what happened in the hours leading to Namuwulya’s death and the circumstances under which her body was discovered.
The motive for the alleged killing has not been publicly established.
Namuwulya was reportedly a content creator on TikTok and also worked as a waitress. Her death has attracted attention on social media, where friends and followers have mourned the young creator.
The appearance of Turindamukama before court marks the beginning of the judicial process in the case. The prosecution will be required to present evidence linking the accused to the alleged offence as proceedings progress.
Under Ugandan law, a person accused of murder is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
What happened in Bukoto?
The death has raised questions about what happened inside the rented room where the two women lived.
Police investigations are expected to establish the events between midnight and 6am on August 20, including who was present at the premises, the circumstances of Namuwulya’s death and the events preceding the discovery of her body.
Detectives from Kira Road Police Station are also expected to rely on forensic evidence and statements from people who may have interacted with the deceased and suspect around the time of the incident.
The prosecution’s case will ultimately be tested in court, where evidence will be presented and challenged in accordance with the law.
For now, the circumstances surrounding Namuwulya’s death and the motive behind the alleged killing remain unresolved.
