A court intern attached to the High Court of Uganda circuit in Gulu has been remanded to prison after being accused of sharing sensitive judicial records linked to opposition politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
The intern, Gloria Grace Laker, is pursuing a Diploma in Law at the Law Development Centre and has been deployed to the Gulu High Court for clerkship training.
Prosecutors allege that Laker photographed entries in the court’s criminal register and circulated them online without authorisation. The information reportedly referenced a criminal case involving Kyagulanyi, the leader of the National Unity Platform.
Laker appeared before Grade One Magistrate Miriam Amoro, where she denied the charges.
Her defence team sought bail, but the application was deferred after the state attorney assigned to the matter failed to appear in court.
Magistrate Amoro ordered that the accused be remanded until March 17, 2026, when the court is expected to hear the bail application.
The case has drawn attention to concerns about the handling and protection of sensitive judicial records within Uganda’s court system.
