Police in Natete are holding a woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend during a domestic dispute in Wakaliga Zone B, Rubaga Division in Kampala.
According to police, 32-year-old Nantongo Hadijjah allegedly stabbed her former lover, Ssebugwawo Mike, a 43-year-old mechanic, after he reportedly forced his way into her rented room in the early hours of Thursday.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the deceased had previously been in a relationship but had reportedly separated about two months ago,” police said.
Authorities said that at around 1:00 am, Ssebugwawo allegedly went to Nantongo’s residence after repeatedly calling her phone without receiving a response.
Upon arrival, he reportedly found the door locked while another man was inside the room.
Police allege that the deceased forced his way into the house, triggering a physical altercation. During the scuffle, Nantongo is said to have stabbed him in the chest using a sharp, broken clay plate, inflicting fatal injuries.
The suspect is currently being held at Natete Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
