A Ugandan prison warder accused of killing four people at Kiboga Central Prison has been arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and transferred back to Kiboga District under tight security as authorities prepare to arraign him in court.
The suspect, identified as Moses Anguyo, Warder No. 13544, was apprehended in Aru Town in northeastern DRC following a joint cross-border operation involving the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda Prisons Service, working closely with Congolese security agencies.
Anguyo had reportedly been on the run for over a month after the February 23, 2026 shooting at Kiboga Central Prison, also known as Kiboga Government Prison. During a routine inspection around 10 a.m., he is alleged to have opened fire on his superiors, killing four people in the attack.

Security officials confirmed that after his arrest on Saturday, Anguyo was extradited and transferred to Kiboga District, where he is currently being held in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities say the relocation is part of preparations to formally charge him and present him before court. Investigators are also working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether other individuals may have been involved.
The successful arrest and transfer of the suspect underscore growing regional cooperation in combating cross-border crime, particularly in cases where suspects attempt to evade justice by fleeing into neighboring countries.
